Playful women in their 20s-40s with a love of and pride for playing tennis

Description:

The Tennis Baddie series is designed for proud, tennis-playing women who want to show off their love of the sport. A mini collection of prints, a tote, tee, baseball cap, and sticker, the series is an alternative to the sport's stereotypical country club reputation. Given the recent influx of new, more inclusive tennis clubs-and consequently a more diverse group of personalities joining the sport, this series is a nod to a new era of tennis.

The color palette is a quite literal representation of the foundation of tennis: the court. The orange, blue, and green match the colors of the different types of tennis courts: hard, clay, and grass. I chose Emyself Design's ED Piedmont font, which blends a retro look with contemporary, crisp letterforms and an overall playful feel. For my illustrations, I over-exaggerated of one of the sport's main draws: the fashion. I drew women wearing stilettos, in black fitted outfits, adorned with gold jewelry. From tone of voice to visual aesthetics, the branding is intended to bring past and present together in celebration of where this sport sits today, with women sitting at the center.
