Giant Owl, a UK-based production company behind cinematic content for ITV, Channel 4, and Sky Cinema, approached Funkhaus for a complete rebrand. By the time I joined the project, the identity system was in place; my role was to translate it into a digital experience that embodied the brand’s dual nature: the bold, cinematic Giant and the precise, stealthy Owl.
Research into owls, both symbolically and behaviorally, revealed precision as their defining trait, mirroring the company’s meticulous process. This insight informed a design language that balanced cinematic immersion with refined control. A strict asymmetrical grid provided structure, while full-screen video brought scale and drama. Negative space, small typography, and restrained motion design added moments of precision and stillness.
The resulting site captures Giant Owl’s essence: immersive yet exacting, bold yet measured. Subtle micro-interactions, from text reveals to blinking page indicators, elevated interactivity without clutter. The team praised the launch, celebrating a digital presence that not only showcases their work but feels as cinematic and precise as the films themselves.
